23.04.1977 Spurs edged a home meeting with Bristol City by the only goal of the Football Combination game.

Trialist Colin McCurdy supplied the pass that set up Martin Robinson to shoot home four minutes before half-time, with keeper Ray Cashley getting both hands to the ball but being unable to keep it out of the net.

Spurs went on to take both points, but needed Roger Wade's 79th minute goal-line clearance to keep the Robins off the score-sheet.
