Harold Jarman put Rovers ahead in the 15th minute, with the right winger hooking the ball home and it could have been 2-0 moments later, but Spurs managed to escape before Phil Holder's low shot had such power that Bristol keeper Dick Crabtree could not get enough of a hand on the ball to stop it going into the net on the half hour. 30.10.1971	Spurs Reserves were held to a 2-2 home draw by Bristol Rovers Reserves, dropping their first home point in the process. Spurs could have gone ahead in the first half, failing to take the chances they created and they paid a couple of minutes after the interval, when Bob Brown hit a shot from 22 yards past Terry Lee. Tottenham pulled level through Mike Dillon soon afterwards but the Pirates stole the lead once more, as Peter Higgins hit a shot across Lee to make it 2-1.
