Started with Hornchurch Athletic in Essex, but left for Chelmsford City in 1948. Scored his first goal on 11th December 1948 against Colchester United in a Southern League Cup tie and went on to total 27 goals in his 56 games for the Clarets before his scoring exploits came to Tottenham's attention and he was snapped up for £2,000 in June 1951.
Dicker scored twice in ten matches for Tottenham between August and December 1952, although he scored 15 goals in 42 appearances in the A and reserve sides during his stay at White Hart Lane.
