FULL NAME :  MATT FORSTER

Born on 20th August 1900 in Newburn, Tyne and Wear, England.

Height : - .m  (' ")

Weight : -  - kgs    (st lbs)

Matt Forster was a stylish full-back, who served Tottenham Hotspur for ten years between the wars.

The defender played for North-east club Northburn, who Tottenham signed him from in 1919.

Had to wait until 1920-21 to get his first appearances in the first team, but kept his place in the side for the majority of his ten years as a regular, proving to be the type of defender that Spurs fans have loved over the years.  Not just content to kick the ball clear, Forster looked for the chance to move forward or to pass to a team-mate.

After losing his first team place, he moved to Reading in 1930 having played 236 League matches for Spurs.  Matt went on to later play one game for Charlton Athletic.

After leaving the game, he was scouting for Fulham at start of WWII.

Matt Forster died in 1976.

At 74, Matt was still fit and lived in St. Albans.

He worked part time (mornings) for the Marconi company in there.

When younger, he was a 3 handicap golfer and was now a member of the Batchworth Hall Club in Rickmansworth.

His most memorable game was against Huddersfield Town in 1925 at White Hart Lane.
“They had a great team including Clem Stephenson, Alex Jackson and Sam Wadsworth. We were 2-1 down at half-time, but late in the game Spurs led 5-3. Then Huddersfield scored twice in a thrilling finish and the match finished 5-5.”

He still followed the club's results, saying, “You can say I'm still a Tottenham supporter.”
