When Youth Manager Pat Welton was hospitalised in the summer during pre-season training, Jimmy Andrews helped out and in September 1972 was appointed to the club's coaching staff.
Born in Invergordon, he started playing as a left winger with Dundee and moved to West Ham United in November 1951. Played over 100 times for the Irons before leaving for Orient and then QPR.
Took over as manager at Loftus Road before going on to coach Chelsea and Coventry City. Until the end of last season he had held the post of assistant manager at Luton Town.
