Before joining Tottenham,
he worked in a sports outfitters, was a keen golfer and
played at Barnet in season 1979-1980, but signed by
Spurs, who spotted his ability and stayed in the youth
ranks as a professional for two years.
After leaving Spurs Mark played briefly for Fulham, but spent the bulk of his career in non-league playing for Walthamstow Avenue, Leytonstone Ilford, Woodford Town, Borehamwood and finished at Wingate & Finchley.
Worked in IT for NWB Centre-File, AST, LG and SCC and is now a sales person at IBM Computers, but also has his own Events company www.markhughesevents.com and still has some contact within football, as he raises funds for the charity Treehouse and Bob Wilson's Willow Foundation, having made over £25k in the last three years for the charity. He also recently met up with Steve Perryman when he booked the former Spurs legend and Wilson for one of his events.
Now lives in St Albans and is enjoying life.
