A half back, who played a good number of games for Spurs before being called up to the Army, Ed Lightfoot was a signing from Stockport Central, who was cover for the existing half backs at the club.
He replaced Jabez Darnell in that area of the team, but lost his place to Arthur Grimsdell, although when Tottenham were hit by players joining up for World War I, he provided a useful replacement for them.
He had a sweet shop in West Green Road with team-mate Fanny Walden until he was called up to serve in the conflict himself.
Ed Lightfoot died in action on 20th July 1918 in France.
