This left winger started off cutting patterns for shoes in a factory before playing for Rushden Town, Southend United and Northampton Town before he was signed by Spurs in October 1937.

During war-time, he guested for Port Vale and in May 1946, he signed on a permanent deal with the Valiants in a five month stay that saw him score one goal in eleven matches for the Potteries side.
