He had started his career at with Olympique Lyonnais in 1997 and played 56 games plus 31 as a substitute, scoring six goals and in his time there he won the French League Cup. Steed's performances had won him youth and Under-21 representation for France (even though he was born in Belgium) and later in his career he twice made the French squad, without getting a cap. Steed joined Fulham in August 2001 for £5 million and had a great impact at Craven Cottage, with his creativity and goal-scoring ability from midfield caused an upsurge in the club's fortunes. During his five years at the club, he played 195 times (plus 16 times as a sub) and hit the net 44 times (32 goals in 160 League matches). Unfortunately, his time there ended in controversy with him being condemned to training with the youth team, as he expressed his wish to leave the club. Signed for Spurs on 31st August 2006 for an undisclosed sum, which was believed to be around £2.5 million, although there had been interest from Reading, Newcastle United, Middlesbrough, West Ham United, Manchester City and Everton. Steed often played out of position on the left wing, being a right footer, but proved an effective midfielder, working hard and he also chipped in with a good proportion of goals. His performances in the 2007-08 season were consistent making him one of the crowd favourites among more high-profile players. Left Spurs on 30th July 2008 to join Sunderland where team-mates Pascal Chimbonda and Teemu Tainio also moved to during the same transfer window. Unfortunately, it wasn't a great time to be at the Stadium of Light and when Steve Bruce decided he was surplus to requirements, he made the move back to France with Saint Etienne in 2011. This wasn't much better, as within a month, his contract had been mutually terminated amid false rumours about him. It took a year for Steed to find another club and it was a return to familiar territory, as he signed for Lyon and stayed for four years before having a one year deal at Caen and then turning out for MDA Chasselay in the fourth tier of French football in 2017 NICKNAME : - MIDDLE NAME : -
