A marauding full back, Marcel McKie was always keen to get forward, but possessed pace enough to get back and regain the ground if opponents broke behind him.
Came through the youth set-up at Tottenham Hotspur from the age of 10 and represented England at U16, U17, U18, U19 and U20 level. Had a loan spell at Crewe Alexandra while in the Reserves as well as playing in excess of fifty reserve games for Tottenham, but was released before he had a chance in the first team.
After leaving Spurs Marcel had trials with West Ham United, Wycombe Wanderers and Dagenham & Redbridge before signing on at Kettering Town and then moving back South to Lewes. From there, his travels took him to St Albans City and a short stay at Potters Bar Town.
The defender signed for Enfield Town in December 2008, but come the end of that season he was on the move once more, having signed for Grays Athletic.
