A replacement at full back for Tommy Clay, Jimmy Ross enjoyed a short stay at Spurs, before leaving for a career outside the game.
Jimmy had been a captain in the Army in World War I and was playing for Raith Rovers in the right half position before he moved south to sign for Tottenham in 1920.
Played regularly for the Reserves for over four years, with only the run of games in 1923 and early 1924 totalling seven first team appearances. After that he played only three reserve games the following season and in April 1925, Ross was released by the club, but, with no offers forthcoming from other clubs, it allowed Jimmy to leave football to manage the Stadium golf club in North London.
