Coming from Chesterfield, James Stapleford joined Tottenham in 1937, but had a short career at Spurs and maybe in football itself.
Not much is known about Stapleford, but he was registered on the staff at the club in the 1937-38 season, when he moved from his home at Holmfield, Amberbold Road, Old Tupton, Chesterfield to come to London.
It is thought that he may have suffered a broken leg before World War II began and therefore he failed to make an appearance for the club and the left sided midfielder failed to make an appearance back at the ground after the war was over.
