Robbie Stepney played an unassuming role at the club, as they had a good record during the early 1980s when he took charge of the reserves and coached the first team too.

As a player, he played for both Horsham and Redhill as an amateur, before he was signed by Aldershot, where he turned professional in September 1958.

Stepney scored a hat-trick against Gateshead in Aldershot's record league 8-1 victory, but he dropped back into midfield, where he had an eye to join the attack.  At the Recreation Ground, Robbie played in every position in the side including goalkeeper.

In total, he made 213 League appearances, scoring 35 goals during his Aldershot career, but he suffered cartilage trouble and joined Dartford, when the Hampshire club released him in summer 1965.  Robbie continued to play non league football for many years, before going on to coach and manage non-league clubs.

Stepney moved on to Tottenham Hotspur where he held various positions including reserve team manager during the early 80's.  His fitness training was renowned and he brought through a number of players who went ont o have a good career in the Spurs first team.

He left White Hart Lane and went on to coach in the Middle East and Sweden, where he has settled down, working for Karlslunds IF, IFK Osterlund and Osterlunds FK.
