In his playing days he began with Skelmersdale and became an amateur England international.

Best known as a Blackpool player, he signed from Wycombe Wanderers, where he played part time and held down a career as a school teacher.  Peter went on to captain the Seasiders before moving to the Seagulls at the other end of the country, playing for Brighton & Hove Albion.

Joined the Spurs coaching staff, even playing one game for the reserves at centre half and eventually went on to become the club's Academy Director.
