Sid Tickridge was a defender who served Tottenham well, having made 101 appearances in four years at the club as a first team player.
Tickridge had played for his school team and the District side before joining Tottenham Juniors. He turned professional with the club in 1946 and was a regular first teamer up until the 1949-50 season. Only featured in one game in the 1950-51 First Division "Push and Run" side.
Sid left before the end of
the 1950-51 season, joining Chelsea in march 1951 and he
had a good run in the side for three years, but for the
last two years of his timea t Stamford Bridge, he
dropped out of the first team picture. That
brought a short move to stay in West London with
Brentford.
Sid served in the Navy for four years, which took a
period out of his career, but he returned after the war
to complete over 100 games for the club and showed he
could be a reliable full back.
