Played for Grassmoor Ivanhoe, Claycross Town and Matlock Town.
Worked a a miner at Grassmoor Colliery.
Started his professional career with Stockport County in December 1923 and moved from his centre forward position to a half back berth.
Made captain of the team in the mid-1930s and was in the Tottenham team which gained promotion in 1933.
Had a summer business in Scarborough and coached at Minchenden Grammar School, Southgate, London and Sloane School, Chelsea.
Brothers James and Jack both played professionally for Mansfield Town and for Chesterfield, Scarborough and Middlesbrough respectively.
Tom Meads died on 30th January 1983 in Chesterfield.
