07.01.1995 Giant killers Altrincham were hoping to cause a shock in the FA Cup Third Round at White Hart Lane, but Tottenham's professional approach saw off the GM Vauxhall Conference side.

An eighth minute free-kick was quickly taken by Jurgen Klinsmann out to Ronny Rosenthal on the right wing.  His cross found Teddy Sheringham who shot home to give Tottenham a goal to settle any nerves there might have been.  Darren Anderton's corner was converted by Rosenthal in the 33rd minute to add some breathing space before half-time.

The Northern side rarely threatened to trouble the Spurs goal and when Sheringham's cross was met by the head of Stuart Nethercott for what turned out to be his only Spurs goal, the passage to the Fourth Round was secured for Tottenham.

02.01.1993 Spurs were the away side in this Third Round tie against Marlow, who moved the match to White Hart Lane to maximise their gate receipts from the match.

Coming from the Diadora League Premier Division, Marlow were one of two clubs who have entered every FA Cup competition since it's inception.  The dream started to crash when Teddy Sheringham scored in the 19th minute.  A Nayim corner was head on by Gary Mabbutt and when Nicky Barmby tried to flick it on, the ball hit Sheringham's back and went in with 41 minutes gone.  Dean Austin passed the ball through to Barmby to dink the ball over the advancing keeper for the second goal before the interval.

Vinny Samways hit a third in the 50th minute, taking Nayim's pass to shoot home and Marlow captain and Spurs fan David Lay scored a piledriver in the 70th minute to give the Berkshire side some hope of a replay.  The chance came from a run down the right that ended with the ball pulled back for Lay to ram home from 10 yards out.  Samways got his second a minute later, taking a through ball bisecting the back four and taking it around the keeper, before Anderton played a delicate pass to Watson, who squared it to Barmby, who completed his brace with a late effort to round off the 5-1 win in the third minute of added time.

13.01.1973 A trip to Hartsdown Park was a massive step down for Spurs, but they did not take their Southern League opponents for granted and ran out professional 6-0 winners Margate, who had former Spur Eddie Clayton playing for them.

A 25th minute free-kick by Martin Chivers was blocked back out to his right, but the striker smashed the rebound back past Chic Brodie in the Margate goal, who might have stopped it, to give Tottenham the lead.  Margate battled commendably to hold the score to 0-1 at the break.  In fact, they had a couple of chances with Clayton lobbing a shot just wide and then creating a chance for John Baber to have a cross-shot that was too high.  Norman Fusco nearly caught Pat Jennings out, but the Irish keeper got back to save the effort.  Steve Perryman had to leave the field and be substituted after picking up a bruised knee.

It took only four minutes of the second half for Chivers to net his second after Ray Evans' cross had been volleyed into the goalmouth and touched on by substitute Jimmy Pearce, who then scored himself from close range with his right foot following Martin Peters' flick on to Ralph Coates' 55th minute cross.  Peters rose to head a fourth after 75 minutes after Golly had nodded on a long throw, then Cyril Knowles ran through the Margate defence to slot home his first goal of the season in the 83rd minute.  It was left to John Pratt to round off the scoring with the sixth Spurs goal three minutes before the end, as he shot home.  Only a rapid rush from his line by Brodie saved David Houston from embarrassment, when Pearce tried to seize on his weak back-pass and Summers had to clear a Chivers effort off the line to deny him a hat-trick.

Teams :
Margate -  Chic Brodie, Summers, Butterfield, Norman Fusco, Paton, David Houston, John Baber (Ferry 70), Clayton, Barry, Brown, Walker.
Spurs -  Jennings, Evans, England, Naylor, Knowles, Pratt, Perryman (Pearce 34), Peters (c), Coates, Chivers, Gilzean
Ref : -  John Homewood (Sunbury)
Attendance : -   Officially 8,500 (record Margate crowd), however, a total of 14,169 has been quoted in some sources
