Poor defending allowed the Terriers to take an early lead through Max Leonard on 15 minutes, but a good move on the right wing gave Roman Michael-Percil the opportunity to grab an equaliser from Calum Tapping's pass just before the half hour mark. 

Three minutes into the second period, Tottenham took the lead with Ronnie Hawkins curling home a free-kick from the right hand corner of the area, but the lead only lasted for ten minutes, with Matt Crooks hitting a half-cleared ball back past a throng of players to make the score 2-2.  But Tottenham pressed forward and in the 67th minute, Jesse Waller Lassen scored from a blocked effort by Tapping to restore the lead once more.  it was a lead that Spurs would hold until the final whistle to give them their first league win of the season.
