Orient met a Spurs XI at Spurs Lodge to play a four quartered match of
20 minutes per quarter inside the dome at the training
ground after a period of bad weather had prevented any match action.
Returning from a loan spell at Ipswich Town, Andros Townsend scored twice - once inside the first five minutes and then, after Orient had pulled level, he set up Ryan Mason and then netted his second with half an hour gone. The winger had taken a short corner to Tom Carroll and when he got the ball back, he curled it beyond the O's keeper. Mirko Ranieri had made a sharp save to keep Orient from making it 2-2 and his replacement was busy in the third quarter, making a very good save to stop the visitors getting back on the score-sheet. Spurs finished strongly and with 66 minutes gone, Alex Pritchard put Kudus Oyenuga away to race away and lay a square ball into Harry Kane's path for the fourth Tottenham goal. When Dean Parrett took the ball off the last Orient defender five minutes later, he played in Oyenuga for a goal of his own. Pritchard and Kane had further chances before the end of the match, but it ended 5-1 to Spurs. Teams : |

04.09.1976 | Spurs
Reserves fell to a 0-1 home defeat to Orient Reserves in a lacklustre
Football Combination performance. The effort that the East London club
put into the match outshone that from the Tottenham team and their goal
a few minutes before half time settled the game. Teams : |

Orient Reserves lost out 1-2 at White Hart Lane in the Football
Combination. A 13th minute effort by former Spurs striker Derek Possee struck the post and the ball went in despite Fred Barwick's best efforts to keep it out. However, in the 34th minute, Gerry Armstrong knocked the ball in to equalise. In a scrappy match, the best move of the game gave Spurs the winning goal two minutes from time. Neil McNab and Andy Keeley worked some space on the left to create a shooting chance for Barwick, who struck the ball from 30 yards to beat the Orient keeper, John Smeulders. Teams : |
