Starred as a wing half for England Schoolboys.
Joined Spurs in 1919, but he had to retire
in 1927 with a ligament injury.
Played at wing-half.
Made 34 appearances in 1924-25.
Skinner said he was always the first to the
pay desk each week, so much so that the manager Peter McWilliam came to
expect it. He said as a maximum wage earning player, he could make
more in a winning reserve side, with a £1 win bonus than in a losing first
team, where he earned an £8 basic.
On retirement ran a grocer's shop in
Enfield, later starting a building company in Harlow and a fruit farm.
