23.03.2009 A late, late goal won this reserve meeting for Spurs at the Hawthorns with West Bromwich Albion.

The game was a tough one with Albion fielding a side featuring a number of first teamers, while Tottenham side had a mix of first team and Academy players.

Alan Hutton completed 70 minutes on his return to action following his foot injury and was given a tough work-out in what was a physical encounter.  There was little in the way of goal-mouth action before Ben Alnwick pulled off a  diving save to stop Roman Bednar's shot in the 37th minute.  However, a minute later, WBA took the lead when Texeira's shot picked out Ryan Donk rather than the net and his volley went over Alnwick and in.

Spurs started the second half well and five minutes in, Paul-Jose M'Poku got past Samuels and found Gilberto for the Brazilian to fire home from 18 yards out, making it 1-1.

It took until three minutes into time for stoppages for the winner to come and it was Pascal Chimbonda who rose highest to head Ryan Mason's corner powerfully past Allsop in the Albion goal from near the penalty spot to give Tottenham the three points.

01.09.2008 Spurs Reserves came back from a 0-2 half-time deficit to take the points in their opening fixture of the season with a 3-2 win over West Bromwich Albion.

It took only two minutes for WBA to go ahead, with a goal from Roman Bednar, who took a pass from Samuels and hit a low shot past Ben Alnwick from just inside the penalty area.  Luke Moore missed a good chance, when put through and a penalty shout at the other end came when Hutchins had a shot that hit a hand.  Barcham headed wide and West Bro's Moore broke through only to be thwarted by Dorian Dervite and Ricardo Rocha before Bednar's cross caused Alnwick a little panic, as he had to tip it over as it looked as though it might drop into the net.

Hancox was booked for fouling Rose and then two saves from Alnwick in the 27th and 33rd minutes kept Albion out.  Firstly, the ball bobbled around the box until it dropped for MacDonald, who shot and the Spurs keeper blocked it with his legs and then Moore's shot from outside the area was pushed away, as it looked like it would creep into the net, with a full length dive.

Four minutes before the break Rose was challenged by Pike, who appeared to miss the ball, but no spot-kick was awarded and to add insult to injury, in added time at the end of the half, Moore's weak effort on goal took a deflection into Bednar's path and he lifted the ball over Alnwick as he dived out at him.

Luckily, it was only a matter of three minutes after the break that Tottenham pulled a goal back.  Dervite's long pass to Hutchins, saw the Irishman dink the ball over Allsop to make it 1-2.  Ten minutes later, Alnwick was once more the saviour as he pushed away Labadie's effort from eight yards out.

With 71 minutes on the clock, Andy Barcham's drive was kept out by the hand of defender Hancox on the goal-line and this resulted in a penalty to Spurs and a red card for the Albion defender.  It soon became 2-2 when David Hutton slotted home past Allsop from the spot.  It was then 3-2 to Tottenham in the 86th minute, as Kyle Fraser-Allen got into space on the right wing and his low cross saw Barcham spin on it to score with a difficult volley from just outside the six yard box.

Both keepers were called into action in the closing stages, with Allsop pushing Cian Hughton's close range drive over the top and Alnwick tipping wide Bednar's shot from the corner of the box.  Into time added on, the WBA goalie was alert to block Andy Barcham's drive from a narrow angle.
