It was Walker-Peters who crafted the first goal, with his cross ending in SHayon harrison's shot being blocked out to Anton Walkes, who hit the ball on the run past the goalie at his near post to give Spurs the lead in the 17th minute. 

The keeper denied Onomah after Walker-Peters ahd a shot blocked for a corner and then Will Miller had a shot saved with Ross firing the loose ball over the bar.  Lloyd was too high with another shot and a good move laid Akindayini in for an opening, but it was saved.  Wolves did start to move forward and Devers had his shot blocked and then Upton shot wide before Weeks' drive took a deflection over the top.

With the sides turning round with Spurs a goals ahead, there was still plenty for Wolves to play for.  However, a goal three minutes in swung the momentum in Tottenham's favour. Walker-Peters was again involved, with his low cross finding it's way into the net at the far post.  Onomah, who had returned from England Under-17 duty, was driving forward and forced Burgoyne into another save before being replaced by debutant Ryan Loft.  Loft had an immediate impact, forcing a block and then hitting the rebound wide.

Walker-Peters was the architect of the third goal, with his cross being converted at the near post by Daniel Akindayini, with a neat finish after 57 minutes.

Tottenham had to be alert and Voss made a good stop to deny Rainey, then Erdei was too high with an effort and substitute Martinyadze had a header saved.  However, Tottenham replaced Will Miller with Chris Paul, making his first appearance, although this was followed by a Wolves goal, as Rainey took a return pass before beating Voss' dive with a shot just inside the far post.  Erdei went close to reducing the arrears, with a shot that went over the top, but it was Tottenham who restored the three goal margin, as Ross passed along the line to Loft, who stood up a cross and Akindayini drove home for his second of the match with three minutes of normal time remaining.  His hat-trick was completed in time added on, heading home a cross from Paul at the far post to complete a 5-1 score-line in Tottenham's favour.

Tottenham created a host of chances as the snow came down on a chilly day, with Andros Townsend opening the scoring on 11 minutes, with a fine free-kick after a foul on Ryan Mason had given Spurs a dead ball situation four yards outside the area.  Jon Obika and Yago Falque were through on the keeper only for Aaron McCarey to thwart them on each occasion, while Townsend volleyed too high and shot over from 12 yards out, before Ryan Fredericks' cross was headed wide by Obika.  After half an hour, Wolves had their first chance, when Liam McAlinden was off target from Jack Price's cross.

There was an early scare for Spurs in the second half, when John Gorman headed wide and then Spurs attacked, with McCarey getting to Obika's effort when he was in on goal, with the follow-up fired at goal by Ryan Mason, only for Michael Ihiekwe to clear off the line. The game swung back to the other end and it was Gorman again, who forced a save with Jonathan Miles' legs stopping the striker, but with playing changing ends quickly, Tottenham had chances with Obika's diving header going wide, then Townsend brought another fingertip save from McCarey and then curled a shot wide.  On 67 minutes, a Townsend through ball put Tom Carroll in to score the second goal from 12 yards out, but Wolves hit back with a goal five minutes later as Jamie Reckford's cross was headed in by McAlinden.  Spurs made sure there would be no comeback with Mason creating a shooting chance for Obika from inside the box, which he buried in the net and was then on hand again to make it 4-1 in added time finishing a low cross from Townsend after Carroll had released him on the left.  There was still time left for a fifth, with Obika making the goal for Falque, who finished with a curler into the bottom corner from just inside the area to round of a fine performance by the Under-21s.
