07.10.1992 Spurs had the confidence of a first leg win and went on to win this game 4-2 and the League Cup Second Round tie 7-3 on aggregate.

A Spurs throw in on the right of the penalty area was put in to the edge of the area where Teddy Sheringham knocked it back to Darren Anderton, who blasted the ball into the net from 20 yards with two and a half minutes on the clock.  Then a long ball was headed on and Nick Barmby was onto it like a flash, forcing goalkeeper Ashley Bayes to bring him down in the area and the resulting penalty kick was dispatched by Sheringham, sending the goalie the wrong way.

Brentford hit back with a headed goal by Gary Blissett from Luscomb's right wing free-kick, but the two goal margin was restored when Tuttle found Anderton and his through ball was fumbled by Bayes, allowing Andy Turner to nip in and pinch the ball to score.  It became 4-1 when Anderton's pass found Sheringham alone in the area and he side-stepped a challenge from a defender before clinically finding the net with time running out.  However, there was still time left for a right wing Brentford corner to come in and for Keith Millen to bundle the ball home from close range to make the final score 4-2

21.09.1992 Spurs earned a 3-1 home win in the first leg of the League Cup Second Round match against Brentford at White Hart Lane.

Steve Sedgley's pass picked out Teddy Sheringham on the edge of the Brentford penalty area and the striker slid the ball past the keeper as he approached to give Tottenham the lead, but the Bees pulled level with Gary Blissett's goal heading home from 's left wing cross.  A second goal came Tottenham's way when Gordon Durie crossed from the right for Kevin Watson to head in from close range to restore the lead.  in the 74th minute, the victory was wrapped up by Durie, who took Sheringham's flick-on on his chest, let it drop and then fired a looping shot over Ashley Bayes to make it 3-1.
