Jimmy Archibald was a midfield signing for Spurs when they were re-grouping after World War I.

Archibald joined from Motherwell in 1919 and played as a wing half in Second Division team of 1919-20 who were Champions.  He continued to feature for Tottenham in the next two First Division campaigns until, in 1922, he was transferred to Third Division (South) Aberdare Athletic.

He only stayed one season in Wales before he returned to London when he signed for Clapton Orient playing at Homerton.  Jimmy spent three seasons there before he left to join Tunbridge Wells and then went on to play for Margate before retiring.

Jimmy Archibald died in the Connaught Hospital, Walthamstow aged 82, having lived in Walthamstow for many years.
His funeral was at held at the City of London Crematorium, Manor Park on Thursday 6th February 1975.

Jimmy had broken his right leg and was in D1 ward of Hackney Hospital.

He was proud of playing for Spurs and said, “I have always maintained my interest in Spurs and love to talk about the old players and matches.”
