Bill Brown joined Dundee after he was given a chance in
a friendly match, but had played for Carnoustie Panmure
Juniors, in Junior football in Scotland (non-league).
The keeper was handed a trial for the Dens Park in the
summer of 1949 in a friendly, when they when they met
Hibernian in a commemorative game to mark the opening of
Dundee Violet Juniors ground at Glenesk Park.
Impressing in this game, he was signed by Dundee, but
had to wait until January 1950 for his debut at
Shawfield when Dundee visited Clyde.
Joined Spurs from Dundee in 1959.
