Wayne Cegielski was a Welsh youth international defender, who was in the Spurs youth and reserve set up for some years, but did not make the senior team at White Hart Lane. He was a member of the Spurs youth team that won the 1974 FA Youth Cup beating Huddersfield Town. When he stepped up to the second XI, he made his reserve team debut v Bristol Rovers away as a substitute on Easter Saturday 1973.
Played for Tredegar Boys before coming to the attention of the Spurs scouts and his progress at Spurs was rapid, being made a new apprentice in July 1972.
The central defender went on loan to Northampton Town, where he played 11 times and then left Spurs to try his luck with VfB Stuttgart in Germany in 1975, before returning to his native Wales to play for Wrexham in 1976 via a short spell with the Tacoma Tides in the US in their only year in existence in the American Soccer League. Cegielski won 2 Under-21 caps for Wales
Signed for Port Vale in August 1982 and scored five goals in the 96 league appearances he made in his three season stay, helping them to promotion to the Third Division in his first season, before moving on to play at Blackpool and Hereford United, before dropping into non-league in 1987 with Worcester City and then Northwich Victoria.
