A midfielder or inside forward, Eddie Clayton was a stand-in for many years as more expensive signings were brought in, but he did have a good run in the side once established.
Eddie had been playing as a wing half or an inside forward, he had been playing for Hackney Boys and then Eton Manor, when he was spotted by the club's scouts to join Spurs as a youngster and he turned professional with the club in 1957.
After ten years with Spurs, Eddie left for Southend United in 1968 and after two years moved on to Margate.
