A youth team player at Spurs in the early 1980s but failed to make the senior sides, Robert Codner left to have seven years at Brighton between 1988 and 1995, playing over 250 times.
The strong tackling midfielder went on to play for Leicester and Barnet before Brighton and then after his time at the Goldstone Ground, at Reading, Peterborough United, another spell at Barnet and Southend United.
Robert continued his career at a lower level, moving regularly around the non-league scene until he retired and moved into the role of a football agent.
