A tall, rangy midfielder, Peter Gain was a star of the youth team that made it as far as the reserves before leaving the Lane.
London born, but qualified to play for the Republic of Ireland, Gain made a name for himself in the midfield of a talented Spurs youth side and was promoted to the reserves in the 1998-99 season, before going out on loan to Lincoln City for three months, which became a permanent move in March 1999, as he had impressed the management at Sincil Bank.
Stayed with the Imps for six years, becoming a popular player with the fans, but moved to Peterborough United in the summer of 2005 and had three years with the Posh, where he played 69 times in the starting line-up.
Returning to his native London, Peter signed for Dagenham in in the 2008 January transfer window and his ability to hold the ball to wait for support from his team-mates and the creativity for his forwards gave him a new lease of life with the Essex club.
