Eddie Gibbins joined Tottenham
Juniors, but went off to war, where he served in the
Navy, representing his service in football matches.
Demobbed in 1946, he returned to Tottenham and signed as
a pro in 1948 following a season at Chelmsford City.
The centre-half played four senior matches, but went on
to work in the club offices and for a fuel transport
company in Tottenham.
Retired to Taunton in Somerset.
His son Roger played for Spurs through
the youth system and into the reserves, but moved on to
have a full footballing career with a number of clubs
including Oxford United, Norwich City, Cardiff City and
Swansea City.
Eddie Gibbins died on 7th August 2011 in Kingston St.
Mary, Somerset.
