Sunderland
born Phil Holyoak was brought South by Spurs and became
a professional, but failed to make the breakthrough into
the first team.
Holyoak attended the local Castle View Comprehensive
School there and captained Sunderland Boys and trialled
for Durham County Boys while at school. Although
Holyoak was on Wolverhampton Wanderers' books as a
schoolboy' thecentre
half was made an apprentice professional at Tottenham in the
summer of 1975.
He played regularly in 1976-77 senior youth team and
made 11 reserve appearances, being upgraded to a full
professional in Summer 1977.
Now serving as a Detective in the Metropolitan Police at Tottenham.
