Australian born
Massimo Luongo is a strong, battling midfielder who
makes the team's play tick, but one who has a good
passing range and can finish well.
Signed as a youngster from , Massimo learned well at
Tottenham and made good progress through the youth ranks
and going on loan to Ipswich Town to earn a debut in a
League Cup tie at Stoke City in 2012. The game was
a little dull, ending 0-0 and going to penalties, with
Luongo being unfortunate enough to miss the decisive
spot-kick.
However, his presence in the Under-21 side pushed them on to the final of the Premier League competition, but by the time Spurs had got there, he was on loan at Swindon Town, where his displays in their first team had helped them to the play-off semi-final against Brentford, but the London side won over two legs and the Railywaymen were disappointed, despite a late comeback in normal time.
