A diminutive and determined midfielder, Billy Manuel always gave 100% in causing nuisance to the opposition, but his progress through the youth team and the reserves did not make it to the first team at White Hart Lane.
While he was released by Spurs, Billy went on to play at Gillingham twice, Brentford, Cambridge United, Peterborough United and Barnet before moving into non-league with Tonbridge Angels and Margate. Manuel was appointed as player-coach at Folkestone, before signing for Waltham Forest as a player.
He was last heard of as having moved to the United States.
