A player who started his youth career with Spurs moved on to Brentford and by a convoluted journey, back up the divisions.
Released by Tottenham, Jake moved to Brentford, where he captained their youth team, impressing enough to be given his first team debut in the last game of 2010-11 as a late sub. He went to non-league St. Albans City on loan for some work experience during February 2011 for a month. Signed his first professional contract that summer and had been lined up for a loan move to Hayes & Yeading, but ill health stymied the deal, in a disrupted season for the midfielder.
At the start of the next
campaign, he was sent off in the first game, went to AFC
Wimbledon on a loan, got concussed by David Luiz in an
FA Cup tie and despite signing a new deal in April 2013,
he was again up for loan, but suddenly became a regular
match-day squad member until February 2014, when the
club was looking to loan him out again. History
seemed to be repeating, as injury and departures left a
gap for him to fill and he was a member of the team in
the run-in that saw them promoted to the Championship.
That didn't help Reeves' career as he failed to get a
start in the side and after a couple of months, he asked
for his contract to be mutually terminated, so he left
Griffin Park on 29th August 2014, signing a short term
deal with Swindon Town on the same day. Leaving
the County Ground just before the New Year, Jake
rejoined AFC Wimbledon in January 2015, where he had
three good seasons playing over 100 games, before
Bradford City took an interest in him and he moved to
join the Bantams in July 2017.
