Better known as Sandy, Alexander Tait proved to be an important part of the team that won the FA Cup in 1901 and in the years leading up to League football for the club.
A stylish full back, Tait was a hard tackling defender, but one who could use the ball intelligently out of the back. His link play along the wing, often saw him pushing forward to assist in attacks.
Played every game of the 1899-1900 Southern League winning season, giving 100% and a real favourite of the fans for his commitment.
Alexander Tait died on 6th April 1949.
