White Hart Lane featured advertising around the pitch for the first time in a break with club policy for over 50 years.

The Club said that TV coverage has made the income available from the introduction of advertising hoardings too lucrative to ignore.

From the proceeds of the club's pre-season games, £575 has been donated to footballing and other charitable organisations.

Former Spurs captain Danny Blanchflower was due to appear for a Great Britain Past Masters XI against a Europe XI at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday 14th November 1972 with a 19:45 kick off to raise funds for children's play areas.

The 1972 Spurs Supporters' Club Player of the Year was Pat Jennings, who received 2,000 of the 3,000 votes cast.
The award was to be presented at the Annual Dance at Bruce Grove Ballroom on 05.10.1972
Alan Gilzean will receive a President's Award for a season of outstanding effort.

The club added a new ball court, which was opened at the Lane in September 1972 behind the West Stand.

It cost £85,000, was 122 feet x 83 feet in size and a new viewing gallery had been added.

Graeme Souness and Mike Dillon spent the summer of 1972 on loan at Montreal Olympic but Dillon thought that the standard wasn't great, with the Spurs Reserve team likely to beat most of the teams in the league there.

Dillon also said, “It was all a great experience. We met a lot of people and I feel it broadened my outlook. Life is a lot different there and the French influence is very strong.”

The club were offering North Stand season tickets for the first time for season 1973/74.

Winger Roger Morgan was forced to retire from professional football with injuries to both knees.

Before the final two home games v Newcastle and Wolves, most goals had been scored at the Paxton Road end.

There had been 56 home goals in competitive matches with 35 at Paxton Road end and 21 at Park Lane end.
