LEAGUE CUP

Drawn at home to Arsenal in Round Three of the League Cup, Tottenham had perhaps the hardest draw in the round.

.

EUROPA LEAGUE

Pitched in with Azerbijan's Qarabag, AS Monaco and Anderlecht, Spurs were handed the most difficult group in the Europa League ... and that is before Champions League teams drop down from their competition !!

PRE-SEASON/END OF SEASON TOUR

Tottenham were invited to take part in the showpiece MLS game against the All-Stars at the Dick Sporting Goods Arena in Denver, where they were due to face a number of familiar names in the US line-up of the best that the American league could offer.  As it turned out, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Robbie Keane all had to drop out meaning that Clint Dempsey was the only name associated with the Premier League that took part.  However, the new stars of the MLS - Kaka and David Villa scored for the All-Stars and a Harry Kane goal gave Spurs some hope, but they could not find an equaliser.

With Mauricio Pochettino not wanting too much action before the main action in the Premier League started, there were a number of behind closed doors games before the squad headed for Munich to take part in the Audi Cup in the Allianz Arena.

In the first game, they faced Real Madrid, including Gareth Bale and they lost out 0-2 with the inevitable goal from our former player, but there was plenty of possession for Spurs, although only a few chances were created.  With Bayern easily beating AC Milan in the other match, Tottenham faced the Italian side the following day to decide the 3rd/4th places in the tournament.

With most of the players being given a run out in a much changed side from the Real match, Nacer Chadli gave Tottenham an early lead that gave them the confidence to put on a good show and extended their lead in the 70th minute through Tom Carroll's precise curling shot.  Hugo Lloris, returning after injuring his wrist came on as a substitute and had to make a late save to prevent Ely's volley causing a grandstand finish.

RECORDS.

Tottenham ran 117.8km in total against Manchester United, more than any other team in the first round of games of Premier League season.

For the second season running, Eric Dier was the first player to score for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

On Boxing Day against Norwich City, Harry Kane scored his 26th and 27th Premier League goals of the calendar year to beat Teddy Sheringham's record.

Harry Kane has scored more goals in a Premier League campaign than any other Spurs player (25).

Tottenham fielded the youngest starting XI this season on average (24 years 328 days).

Dele Alli was involved in 19 Premier League goals (nine goals, 10 assists), more than any other English midfielder in the division.

Tottenham lost fewer games this season (6) than in any previous top-flight campaign.

2015/16 was the first Premier League season to see the opening goal be an own goal - Kyle Walker for Spurs against Manchester United.
